Kia XCeed - crossover modification of the five-door hatchback Kia Ceed third generation. Introduced in June 2019.

The spectacular image of XCeed was created by the team of the Frankfurt design studio Kia, led by Gregory Guillaume. The features of the platform Ceed are clearly discerned in the car, with the difference that XCeed, firstly, looks more dynamic, and secondly, only the front doors make it related to the hatch, while all other body panels are designed exclusively for this model.

Despite the fact that the wheelbase of 2650 mm is the same for the entire Ceed line, the cross-version of the model has a more dynamic look thanks to the long hood, smoothly turning into the A-pillars. The front and rear overhangs have grown by 25 and 60 mm, respectively.

The XCeed's C-pillars also have a more dashing slope than the hatchback's. Thanks to this, as well as the spoiler visor on the fifth door, the car received coupe-like features. Complementing the image of alloy wheels with a diameter of 16 or 18 inches, depending on the configuration.

The new XCeed is 26mm wider than the original hatchback, with a signature grille larger than that of its sister models, and headlights with signature Ice Qube LED lights designed specifically for the XCeed. At the same time, LED elements ensure the operation of not only daytime running lights, but also low / high beams. The rear lighting equipment of the five-door is also fully LED.

The XCeed with 16-inch wheels has a ground clearance of 174 mm, according to the manufacturer, while the version with 18-inch wheels has a ground clearance of 184 mm. There are 12 body colors to choose from, with the Quantum Yellow variant created exclusively for XCeed.

The steering has migrated from the regular Ceed without changes. The only difference is that the force that the electric motor sends to the steering wheel has been slightly modified for more comfortable driving over long distances or while driving at low speeds. However, the suspension received not only original settings, but also design changes. There are hydraulic rebound stops at the front, and front and rear spring rates have been lowered by 7 and 4 percent, respectively.

As for the interior, in general it is designed in the spirit of the current Ceed line with a center console turned towards the driver, pleasant-to-touch finishing materials and a “floating” screen of the multimedia system. At the same time, the driver sits 42mm higher than in the Ceed and benefits from a wider view due to the higher position of the body above the road.

The boot volume of the Kia XCeed is 426 liters, which is 31 liters more than the hatch. The rear seat backrests fold in a ratio of 60:40 or 40:20:40 (depending on configuration). With the rear backrest fully folded down, the boot volume reaches 1,378 litres. As an option, the Smart Power Tailgate trunk opening system is available, which will raise the fifth door without requiring the driver to press a button on the key fob or make other gestures to activate the door drive. The trunk flooring is made of durable material, while it is possible to change the height of its installation, thus adjusting the height of the compartment.

As for security systems, in addition to the basic set consisting of ABS and a dynamic stabilization system, XCeed can be equipped with cruise control with the Stop & Go function, a frontal collision warning system with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, as well as a collision with an object located in the blind zone. Also on the list of options are an automatic parking system, a driver monitoring system and a lane following system, which, in addition to keeping the car within the lane, also controls the speed and distance to the car in front.

Depending on the level of equipment, a multimedia system with an 8-inch display or a 10.25-inch screen is installed on the XCeed. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available, image output from the rear view camera, USB and Bluetooth with voice recognition. A premium package is available for the top configuration. JBL audio system, which, in addition to mid-range and high-frequency speakers, is equipped with a subwoofer, a center speaker and an additional amplifier.

Kia XCeed is equipped exclusively with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The base was a 1.0-liter 120-horsepower T-GDI engine (172 Nm). A step up is the 1.4 T-GDI engine, which produces 140 hp. and 242 Nm of torque. The “hottest” is the 1.6-liter turbo engine with 204 hp. Fans of diesel engines are addressed to a 1.6-liter engine, available in two power options: 115 or 136 hp.

The 1.0-liter engine is mated exclusively to a manual 6-speed transmission, while XCeed buyers with other powertrains can opt for a 7-speed dual-clutch robotic transmission. The Stop&Go function is included in the list of standard equipment.

Starting in 2020, the XCeed model range will include modifications with mild hybrid and rechargeable hybrid powertrains.

Kia XCeed is produced in Slovakia at the Kia Motors plant in Zilina.
