Kia Ceed - in the third generation, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018, the C-class hatchback received a simplified designation without an apostrophe (the first and second generations were called cee'd). This is an abbreviation for Ccommunity of Eeurope, with EEuropean Ddesign.

New "Seid" Designed at the Kia European Design Center in Frankfurt under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors Europe. Smooth lines that shaped the image Kia cee'd second generation, remained in the past, and they were replaced by straight lines and edges in the style fastback Stinger and new generation Cerato sedan. The hatchback is offered only in a 5-door body, and in GT and GT-Line versions, which differ from the "regular" configurations with Ice Qube four-section LED foglights.

The third generation Kia Ceed is designed on the new K2 platform. Compared to its predecessor, the car is 20 mm wider (total width 1,800 mm) and 23 mm lower (height 1,447 mm). The front overhang was made shorter, the rear overhang was slightly increased, and the wheelbase and length were left unchanged - 2650 mm and 4310 mm, respectively. At the same time, the trunk of the five-door turned out to be 15 liters more spacious (395 liters). For comparison, at Volkswagen Golf VI generation trunk holds 380 liters.

The new "Seed" retained the rear multi-link suspension, but its geometry was completely redesigned for better handling. For the same purpose, the settings of shock absorbers and springs have been changed, and the steering has been made more “sharp”. A choice of rims with a diameter of 15 to 17 inches and 12 body colors.

The interior of the third generation Ceed is also unrecognizable: revised ergonomics, new materials and a dashboard in the same style as the already mentioned Stinger, updated Sorento and Sportage. The front panel is divided into 2 segments vertically: at the top there is a “floating” display, while the controls of the multimedia system and climate control are concentrated below. The center console is turned towards the driver.

In Europe, the naturally aspirated 1.6 engine was replaced by a new 1.4 T-GDi turbo engine with 140 hp. It is complemented by a 120-horsepower 1.0 T-GDi. For some countries, Kia retained the naturally aspirated 1.4-liter (100 hp) petrol engine. As for diesel engines, a new 1.6-liter turbo engine with the U3 index has appeared in the model range. It is available in two versions with 115 and 136 hp and 280 Nm of torque. A 6-speed “mechanics” will be available for all engines, while the new gasoline and diesel turbo engines are also aggregated by a 7-speed “robot” with two clutches.

In Ukraine, the new Kia Ceed was introduced in November 2018. The five-door made its debut with the proven aspirated 1.4 MPI (100 hp, 134 Nm) and 1.6 MPI (128 hp, 155 Nm). Both gasoline engines are combined with a 6-speed "mechanics", and a 6-speed "automatic" is also available for the 1.6 engine. In addition, a 1.4 T-GDI petrol turbo engine (140 hp, 242 Nm) is proposed, coupled with a 7-speed preselective transmission (robot) with dual clutch.

For the new Kia Ceed of the new generation, the so-called ECO package with active grille shutters is provided, which, depending on the temperature regime of the engine, open to improve cooling, or close to improve aerodynamics. Cars with the ECO package also feature lowered suspension, aerodynamic underbody panels, and Michelin tires with reduced rolling resistance.

The Ceed was the first Kia to introduce the optional Lane Following Assist system to the European market. It not only monitors traffic in front of the car and, accordingly, accelerates the car or activates the brake system, steering, depending on the behavior of other cars, as well as road signs, but also controls traffic in adjacent lanes for safe lane changes. LFA operates at speeds up to 130 km/h.

The basic equipment of the Kia Ceed includes 6 airbags, air conditioning, a front center armrest, height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a radio with a 5-inch LCD display, 6 speakers, as well as “warm” options: heated windshield wiper area , steering wheel, front seats and side mirrors. More expensive equipment includes climate control, a choice of driving modes, a rain sensor, heated rear seats, a combined interior trim, other lighting equipment with LED elements, a multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a rear view camera and other options.

Kia Ceed is produced at the Kia Motors plant in Slovakia.
