KIA Sportage - the current generation of the crossover, which has already become the third in a row, has significantly changed both externally and technically. Only the name remains of the previous generation. The car has become wider, and the length has increased by almost 10 centimeters. All increases and allowances went to increase the space in the cabin and the volume of the trunk.

The KIA Sportage is one of the leaders in the class in terms of the size of the cargo compartment (564 l + full-size spare wheel), and in terms of the exterior, it is a small representative of spectacular cars in the compact crossover segment. The German designer Peter Schreyer, who later became one of the three presidents of the Korean company, was responsible for the appearance of the car. Dynamic styling of the body and significantly improved interior materials are the hallmark of the current generation of KIA Sportage.

As a power plant, you can choose a gasoline two-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 166 hp. or one of two diesel engines with a volume of 1.7 (115 hp) and 2 liters (177 hp). The petrol engine is paired with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The base transmission for diesel engines is a six-speed “mechanics”, but an automatic is also available for a 177-horsepower diesel engine.

KIA Sportage is offered both in a front-wheel drive version and with a plug-in all-wheel drive system. The 4x4 formula is available for petrol versions of the model, and all cars with a two-liter diesel engine are all-wheel drive by default.

Four-wheel drive is implemented using an electronically controlled hydraulic clutch, which varies the transmission of torque to the rear axle from 10% to 50%. Interaxle and interwheel locks are simulated using electronic auxiliary systems.

The overhangs of the crossover are very short, which is useful when overcoming obstacles, and the clearance is 172 mm. They produce KIA Sportage in Slovakia, SKD is also established in Zaporozhye.
