Description Kia Stonic

Kia Stonic is a front-wheel drive crossover of the B-SUV segment, the world premiere of which took place in September at the 2017 IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt. The design of this model was developed by Kia's Frankfurt design studio in collaboration with the design center in Namyang Korea. The Stonik received the widest range of customization options of any car of the brand - nine body colors, five roof colors, 15- or 17-inch wheel rims, as well as several interior color schemes, trim materials and even a steering wheel.

Despite the crossover status in terms of proportions and geometric parameters, the new Kia Stonik can also be called a “raised” hatchback. Which is not surprising, because Stonic is built on the same platform as the hatchback. Kia Rio 4th generation, although noticeably larger than a relative. Compared with the original five-door, the overall length was increased by 75 mm (4140 mm), the increase in width was 35 mm (1760 mm), and in height - 70 mm (1520 mm). At the same time, the wheelbase is the same - 2580 mm.

In terms of trunk volume (352 l), Stonic is on par with competitors - cars such as Mazda CX-3 (350 l) and  Peugeot 2008 (350 l). The compartment has a double floor, and the rear seats fold into a flat area, increasing the capacity of the luggage compartment to 1155 liters. The fuel tank is located under the rear seat.

The legroom of the front and rear passengers is 1070 and 850 mm, respectively, the distance from the seat to the ceiling is 996 and 975 mm, and the transverse distance between the walls of the cabin is 1375 and 1355 mm.

At the bottom of the center console, there are two compartments, which are large enough to accommodate large smartphones (for example, iPhone 7 Plus or Samsung Galaxy Note). The shape of the pockets in all doors is adapted to accommodate water bottles, and the front console has a tray with slots for two glasses. The Kia Stonic has a 7-inch touchscreen media system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. USB ports are located at the front, and when ordering the optional center armrest, a USB connector will be available for rear passengers.

Kia Stonic is equipped with a 1.0 T-GDI petrol turbo engine with 120 hp. (torque 171 H·m), a 1.2 MPI atmospheric engine that develops 84 hp. and 122 Nm, as well as a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated unit with 100 hp. and a torque of 133 Nm. In addition, the range includes a 1.6 CRDi diesel turbo engine with a capacity of 110 hp. and "moment" 260 H·m. In the basic version, all engines in the Stonik line are combined with a mechanical transmission. Models equipped with the T-GDI engine will subsequently receive a dual-clutch robotic gearbox.

The following modifications of Kia Stonic are available in Ukraine:

• 1.2 MPI engine and 5-speed "mechanics". Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 13.2 seconds. Fuel consumption 5.2 l/100 km (combined);
• 1.4 MPI engine and 6-speed "Mechanics". Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 12.6 seconds. Consumption 5.5 l / 100 km.

Serial production of Kia Stonic is organized at the Sohari plant in South Korea. The Ukrainian presentation of the model took place in December 2017.
