The car is not provided with an all-wheel drive system, the drive axle of the KIA Soul is exclusively front. The minimum clearance is 164 mm, which should be enough for a fearless exit from curbs in urban areas or, for example, for outings into nature.

The premiere of the car took place in 2009, and already in 2011 its appearance was slightly updated. The car received new headlights with LED daytime running lights, as well as a slightly modified grille.

The buyer of KIA Soul can choose not only the color or design of rims, as is the case with conventional models, but also a number of additional accessories that make the exterior and interior of the car more interesting. For the car, there are several options for stickers on the body, spoilers, linings, multi-colored decorative elements for the interior and much more.

Available engines are 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines. The power of the gasoline unit is 130 hp, peak torque is 157 Nm. The diesel engine loses a little to the gasoline engine in power (128 hp), but it is much more torquey - 260 Nm, which are available in the range of 1,900-2,750 rpm. Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

Serial production of the model has been established in South Korea. In 2014, the second generation will replace KIA Soul, the European modification of which was presented in the fall of 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
