Kia Rio X Line - a five-door hatchback with a crossover body kit and ground clearance increased to 170 mm. X-Line was developed on the basis of the Russian version Kia Rio fourth generation and is intended only for the CIS countries. In China, a similar car is sold under the designation Kia KX Cross.

X-Line is 35mm taller (1505mm) and 115mm longer than before Rio hatchback Russian assembly, as well as 55 higher and as much as 175 mm longer than the "European" Kia Rio Hatchback Korean production. Distinctive features of X-Line: decorative trims on the front and rear bumpers, wheel arch extensions and black side moldings that additionally protect against dirt and scratches. For the convenience of attaching an external trunk, skis, snowboards or bicycles, rails are installed on the roof of the Rio X-Line. The radiator grille of the new model received a chrome and gloss black finish. 

Before launching into production, the hatchback went through a "climatic" adaptation. So, the body (including the bottom) received additional anti-corrosion treatment. The Rio X-Line is equipped with a high-capacity battery (60 Ah) and a 4.6-liter washer fluid reservoir. The lamps of the main headlights also have an extended (up to 1500 hours) service life. Additional air ducts for the heating system are laid to the second row seats.

On the Kia Rio X-Line, as well as on the Kia Rio sedan, two variants of gasoline engines are installed - a 1.4-liter (100 hp, 132 Nm) Kappa family and a 1.6-liter (123 hp, 151 Nm) family Gamma in combination with six-speed manual or automatic transmissions and front-wheel drive. The slowest version - with a 1.4 engine and automatic transmission - accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 13.4 seconds. And the most dynamic version of the hatchback - with a 1.6 engine and an "automatic" - performs this exercise in 10.7 seconds.

Standard equipment includes two frontal airbags and an integrated active management system (VSM) that works in conjunction with anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist (HAC) and Emergency Brake Warning System (ESS). ). Also included in the base package: air conditioning, power windows, heated front seats and steering wheel, central locking with remote control. The steering column is height and reach adjustable.

The new Rio X-Line offers LED daytime running lights and taillights, parking sensors and a light sensor, eco-leather seat trim, keyless entry and push-button start, a rearview camera, a media system with a 7-inch touch screen and Android Auto apps and Apple CarPlay. The top-of-the-line equipment features 16-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, lensed headlights with cornering lights, LED taillights, chrome-plated exterior door handles and a Supervision optotronic instrument panel with a 3.5-inch display. The extended "Warm Options" package includes heated rear seats, windshield and washer jets. The interior door handles are also finished in chrome, while a number of other interior elements are finished in high-gloss black. Finally, frontal airbags are complemented by front side airbags, as well as curtain airbags along the entire length of the cabin.

Serial production of the Kia Rio X-Line started in October 2017. The model is produced at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg using a full cycle technology with stamping, welding and body painting.
