Kia Rio sedan - the fourth generation of "Rio", built on the basis of the Chinese Kia K2. The model shares a platform with a sedan Hyundai Solaris/Accent and differs in engines, as well as in design from the European hatchback Kia Rio fourth generation, and from the American car families with the same name. The presentation of the new Kia Rio with a four-door body took place in June 2017 in Russia.
From the Chinese Kia K2, the new Rio (factory index FB) differs in the design of the front end (a different bumper and radiator grill), stern (the license plate was moved from the trunk lid to the rear bumper), climate adaptation and suspension settings. Compared with predecessor the sedan has become 23 mm longer (4400 mm) and 40 mm wider (1740 mm), and the wheelbase has grown by 30 mm (2600 mm). Ground clearance has not changed (160 mm), but the trunk according to the "passport" has decreased from 500 to 480 liters. This is due to the upgraded rear suspension, due to which the wheel arches protrude more into the trunk: the shock absorbers are installed closer to the vertical (an inclination of 8.4 degrees versus the previous 25 degrees). The geometry of the front suspension has also been changed - the longitudinal angle of inclination of the axis of rotation of the front wheels has been increased from 4.1 to 4.6 degrees.
Instead of power steering, the Rio sedan received an electrical unit with original settings. In addition, the volume of the fuel tank has grown from 43 to 50 liters, the washer reservoir now holds 4.6 liters (4-liters were installed on the previous Rio sedan), and a stabilization system has been added to the basic equipment.
The interior is completely new, but still as strict: a three-spoke steering wheel in the style Kia Sportage, a combination of instruments with equal sections of the tachometer and speedometer, a new climate control unit with "floating keys", an enlarged "automatic" selector. For the top-end configuration, a media system with a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth Hands Free with voice control, as well as side airbags and curtain airbags are provided (front airbags for the driver and passenger are included with the basic equipment). In addition to this, heated rear seats have been added to the equipment list of the top version.
The base engine is a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated Kappa family (100 hp, 132 Nm), an alternative is a 1.6-liter engine from the Gamma series (123 hp, 151 Nm). Both power units can be aggregated with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Kia Rio sedan is produced at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg. The degree of localization of the model reaches 47%, the rest of the components for the car are supplied from South Korea, China and European factories of the corporation.
